Rules Addenda: Paths of Enlightenment
Paths and Roads of Enlightenment should be commonplace in both the Sabbat and Dark Ages Vampire settings, as they are a core part of the concept behind the venues and form the basis of a lot of the political and social interactions.
It is of note that Vampire the Masquerade: Volume 2 introduces a new merit called Path Adherent, which allows a path common to the venue (i.e. discounted usually to a 1pt merit) to be bought for free. Alongside this, paths and roads have been granted some additional benefits from the
Learning Paths
We are utilising the V2 rules for learning paths, with some clarifications (partially because it is not clearly written, partially to fit with how we are using Lore in our chronicle).
These operate as follows:
- Learning a new path can be done with self study or a tutor to Path Adherent, but requires a teacher for the full path.
- Teachers are required to possess the lore for the relevant path. (Being on a full path conveys the lore of that path, but characters may learn it through other means.) Possession of the lore for a road in Dark Ages incorporates knowledge of the subsidiary paths and suffices for this purpose.
- Learning with Path Adherent: 3 actions by both tutor and student, or 6 actions by the student for self-study.
- Learning the full path: 3 additional actions by both tutor and student.
