The Nightfall Society
Committee & Storytellers
Committee
President: Matt Lang
The president is responsible for society correspondence and administration, as well as our liason to external bodies. They oversee the legal and health & safety aspects of the soceity, and act as chair for the committee.
Matt has been a member of the Nightfall Society since just after the new chronicle started in 2021, and despite his grumbles about the MET system has continued attending regularly since then. He has a very long history with LARP and tabletop gaming, and has been a storyteller for a number of other systems in the past.
Treasurer: Philip Louch
The treasurer is responsible for maintaining the society's finances, including providing budget reports to the members and committee, as well as holding purview over the administration of membership and acting as returning officers for polls, votes, and ballots. They are also responsible for taking minutes at meetings.
Phil joined Nightfall with the society's restart after lockdown, and has become a key member in the time since, taking over as Treasurer in mid-2022. He has a wealth of experience in the larp scene, and his machiavellian plotting and detailed downtimes are fast gaining him a reputation amongst the storytellers.
Lead Storyteller: Retired Position
The lead storyteller was previously responsible for oversight over the society's games, acting as the final arbiter of both plot and rules, especially where it involves rare, powerful, or notable NPCs, locations, or items. They were also responsible for all "dark places" of the map, and for maintaining the rules addendum. With the reduction to two games the position has now been retired in favour of simply having the two game storytellers working in concert, and any references to the Lead Storyteller in documentation would now reference discussion between the two storytellers.
Storytellers
Each venue storyteller is responsible for their own game, as well as interactions with other venues.
Camarilla: Barry McIvor
The Camarilla court of Berkshire is seated in the town of Reading. Bordering the highly political London court, it gains strength from its proximity, and is protected from the Sabbat in the Midlands by the frontier court of Oxford. The Ravnos Reservation created for that clan within the UK sits in Newbury as a constant thorn in the court's side, whilst Slough has recently been "reclaimed" by London following the defeat of the anarchs that once resided there, and the Independent Alliance of Brighton have set up their own outpost nearby.
Barry originally joined the Nightfall Society in late 2016 for a short period and returned with the game reset in 2021. He has been a storyteller for the society since the start of 2023, and has previously acted as a storyteller for Camarilla UK and a variety of other independent systems. Always watch out for the rabbits!
Sabbat: Mike Longley
The Sabbat diocese of Coventry is along the frontier to the no-man's land of Warwickshire, not a huge distance from the Camarilla court of Oxford. It is supported by the stronghold of Birmingham, which has been held as the diocese of Archbishop Holmes since just after the week of nightmares. Sabbat territory continues north, holding major cities such as Manchester and Leeds, but ends just south of the Scottish border at Carlisle. The Diocese of Coventry itself, now with its own Archbishop, has been driving forwards recently into the territory of Nottingham Domain, pushing forwards the Crusade.
Mike has been a member of the Nightfall Society since late 2016, and a storyteller since mid-2017. He was the Lead Storyteller from 2021-2023 before the retirement of that position, and has previously been a storyteller for Zeitgeist, Camarilla UK, and a variety of other independent vampire and fantasy systems. Outside of LARP, he has a background as a software engineer and systems administrator, and is a consultant for a cybersecurity software vendor. In his ever dwindling free time he plays Pathfinder, enjoys reading, and watches too much NetFlix.
