Rules Addenda: Positions & Status

Non-Local Positions

Positions above the level of a local domain are not in many cases suited for remaining in-play, as many of them require constant travel or relocation to specific places, and others grant a level of authority beyond that which integrates reasonably in a local game. As such any PC that attains any of the following positions will automatically become an NPC:

Sabbat Militant Order Positions

Membership in the Sabbat Militant Orders does not require possession of the relevant merit in our game, though those merits continue to give their non-status-related mechanical benefits (the Inquisitorial Blade for the Inquisition Membership merit, and the protections from the Black Hand Membership merit) for those who wish to take them.

Each position within the militant orders provides its own status. The status traits of Purified and Branded count as Abiding rather than Innate status for this purpose.

FAQ

Do Neonates need introductions to titled people every time they have a subject to raise with them?

The standard within the Camarilla is that Neonates do not automatically have the right to approach officers of the court. This assists with the social politics of the game as it means that a Neonate will need the aid of an Ancilla to make that approach without the risk of being branded Vulgar, whilst for higher officers that Ancilla may then decide for example to speak to the Seneschal to request audience with the Prince, thereby offering multiple opportunities for boons and favours to be exchanged.

Equally, that neonate is less likely to be branded vulgar for approaching say a Whip or Deputy than approaching the Harpy, and if the officer they approach has fallen out of favour, the Harpy and their allies might just forget to announce the neonate as Vulgar. On the other hand, if the neonate has upset people with political power, they may wish to tread more carefully as the Harpy may be actively looking for infractions.

It is entirely possible for this to be expanded to cover Elders by a local Prince, but at that point it becomes a Courtesy of the domain, which is enforced locally.

Does spending Ordained let you lead any number of Auctoritas rites that evening?

Its expenditure allows you to perform any number of the Auctoritas Ritae other than the listed exclusions that evening as the next stage up (Sacrosanct) allows it as a passive power.
